Sub-4's unique business model is based on Clifton's experience of nearly 20 years as a qualified podiatrist who specialised in biomechanics. Over the last 20 years Clifton has assessed in the region of 15,000 patients with the understanding of an elite athlete, having broken the UK indoor mile record in 1985.

In 2006 Clifton was joined by Andy Bradeley, who after 20 years in a major corporate background assumed responsibility for all commercial activity, allowing Clifton to concentrate on clinical and development issues.
